What happens when we suspend our certainties and look beyond the cover?

That question lies at the heart of beyond the book's cover, an exhibition that shifts attention away from appearances toward what remains concealed beyond the initial encounter. Here, the book's cover is no longer understood as a boundary but as a threshold—a space from which to reflect on the labels we habitually assign to books, images, and people alike.

 

Organized by AT Colección and curated by Antonio Toca, the exhibition will be presented at Palazzo Pisani Revedin, Venice, from 5 to 17 November 2026, coinciding with the 2026 Venice Art Biennale.

In a social landscape shaped by immediacy, preconceptions, and instant judgments, beyond the book's cover proposes a different tempo: an invitation to linger, to embrace uncertainty as a condition of knowledge. Each work exceeds the conventional limits of the artist's book, challenging the expectations with which we approach it and revealing new possibilities for reading, interpretation, and encounter.

 

Beyond its exploration of the artist's book, the exhibition places otherness at the core of its conceptual framework, affirming art's capacity to question prejudice and reshape perception. Difference, fragility, and what is often regarded as peripheral are no longer positioned at the margins but emerge instead as sites from which alternative forms of knowledge, imagination, and sensibility can unfold.

 

The exhibition, however, does not conclude when its doors close. Throughout its duration, visitors are invited to intervene directly on the cardboard furniture that structures the exhibition space, transforming it into a collective logbook of thoughts, traces, and experiences. Once the exhibition ends, this temporary architecture folds back into itself, is preserved, and is transformed into a large-scale artist's book that becomes part of AT Colección.

 

Sustainability is not treated here as an additional criterion or a production strategy, but as a principle embedded throughout the project. By transforming the exhibition furniture into an artist's book, the exhibition extends its own lifespan, shifting from the condition of an ephemeral event toward that of a shared and enduring memory.
